Water Talks YEG 2018

Event Date: February 6, 2018 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Come join the CWRA SYP group for our annual Water Talks YEG event which will be held at The Billiard Club this year!

Are you a student or young professional in the water industry near Edmonton? Are you willing to share your work with other students and young professionals? We are looking for presenters to deliver a 5-minute, 5-slide presentation on a project or research that they've recently or are currently working on.

This networking event includes appetizers and is free for presenters.

Prizes (Mountain Equipment Co-op gift cards) will be awarded for the top presentations:

  • Panel Awarded Prizes (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place): $100, $50, $25
  • Audience Choice: $25

Registration to attend the event is now open. Please register online by January 31, 2018 to secure your spot. Presenters do not need to register.

World Water Day YEG 2018

Join us for joint an exciting evening to meet and network with inspired water collaborators, learn about local water initiatives in the province of Alberta, and listen to forward-thinking solutions on freshwater issues. Water is essential for life, and is the single most important resource on the planet. The organizing committee has been formed from a collective of inspired, engaged and passionate water collaborators representing the sciences and arts from industry, local and provincial government, academia, and NGO’s. North Saskatchewan River Canoe Trip

Event Date: Sunday October 1, 2017 from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm

Where: Meet at Capilano Park

Tickets: $35

Come join the CWRA SYP and Canadian Water Network groups for a lovely day on the North Saskatchewan River! We meet at 11:00 am at Capilano Park and will be shuttled by bus to Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park. From there we paddle as fast or as slow as we want and end up back at the start a couple hours later. 

Please dress appropriately for the weather. No special items necessary. Life jackets and paddles will be provided.

Water Wings - in Edmonton

Edmonton Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup - Fall 2016

Date: Sunday October 16, 2016 from 11 am to 2 pm

Come join the CWRA SYP group and help clean up a section of Edmonton’s beautiful river valley. We plan to meet in Emily Murphy Park to pick up garbage on the south side of the North Saskatchewan River. This spring we removed about 110 lbs of trash! Free coffee and snacks will be provided!

Please dress appropriately for the weather. We recommend that you wear shoes that can get dirty or rubber boots. Please bring work gloves if you have a pair available to you. Latex or nitrile gloves will be available at the cleanup

Edmonton Valley Zoo Tour

April 3, 2016

Thanks to everyone who came out to the technical tour of the Edmonton Valley Zoo! The facilities manager Dean provided an excellent tour of the green roofs, water treatment facilities, and engineered wetlands! We also got to get up close with the seals in the marine mammal exhibit! A few pictures from the event are posted below.
